Description
Three Helreign warriors of the Empire of Helzig:
The Empire of Helzig, made up of a collection of tribes, was only unified into a nation under the rule of Empress Ursa, often seen more as a goddess than a ruler.
Near Helzig - closer to the borders of Prima - had a history of border relations with the Primeans, from raids and trade. Thus, they had several dealings - of all kinds- with the Primeans. Because of this, they had been influenced to some degree by the Primeans and in the same way, some of the Primean border population with Helzig. Having been "Primeanized" to some degree, they have the largest settlements of the Helzig, well a more advanced material culture, especially during the rule of the Queen of Helzig. They are largely an agrarian and cattle-raiser culture. In their language and customs, they have adapted many Primean mannerisms. For a writing system, they use Primean characters in Helzig language.
Helzig, sometimes called Middle Helzig, to distinguish them from Near and Far Helzig. The largest region, as well as the one with the greatest population, the tribes of Helzig - while sedentary and their settlements being significantly smaller, - are still an agrarian and cattle-oriented people, with hunting and gathering playing an important part of their tribal economies. They weren't influenced as deeply by the Primeans as their northern cousins. It was this way until the defeat of Helzog and the institution of the Queen of Helzig by the Primeans, which was resented by the population.
The most famous tribe of the Middle Helzig are the Stygians of Styx. They are known for their quiet and committed natures, never giving up once they have committed to a task. During the war, they earn a reputation for efficiency and ruthlessness, becoming the only unit of Helreign that Primean Knights fear. They are identified by their signature veils, worn in addition to their Helreign uniform.
Far Helzig, the furthermost region of Helzig, far away from Prima in the south, had escaped almost all the influences of the Primean culture, being largely uncharted lands for the Kingdom of Prima. Because of the same, their customs and manners are the most alien to the Primeans. They are made up of numerous tribes of nomads and semi-nomads, superstitious clans or hunters. Only in the Second Helzig War (or ‘The Helreign War’) were many of the Far Helzig tribes first seen by the Primeans.
Aside from these classifications that go from north to south, the Helzig tribes of each region are as well divided among the coastal lowlands and from the inner highlands. Due to the tribal nature of the region, it had been commonplace for Helzig to war amongst themselves until recent developments.
